    Hi third graders!
Welcome to art class
Moodscapes Lesson
This week you will explore how the use of line and color help to create mood by creating two landscapes. One landscape will use curved lines and cool colors and will have a calming feeling. The other landscape will use warm colors and angular lines and will create an anxious feeling. This will be a really interesting project!
Materials:
- White Paper
- Markers, crayons, colored pencils or paint
Vocabulary
mood- a temporary state of mind or feeling
angular- an object, outline, or shape having angles or sharp corners
value- the difference in lightness or darkness of a particular color
Mood in Landscape
Mood plays a huge role in landscape painting or drawing. By using color, value and lighting effects artists can go beyond merely recording a scene to filling their landscapes with the emotion of the artist. Check out the different emotions these landscapes reveal. Do they make you feel sad, happy, hopeful? Try to pick one that seems the most hopeful and happy to you and which one which makes you feel sad or anxious. What are the differences?
